• SEC Basketball Preview

In a matter of weeks, Breeders Cup betting enthusiasts will have an opportunity to place their money on their favorite SEC NCAA basketball teams. Last season, the Kentucky Wildcats came within a win of qualifying for the National Title game, only to be thwarted by the Big East’s Connecticut Huskies. This season, as many can attest too, the Kentucky Wildcats appear to have the best team in the entire nation. Four of the 12 bookie software teams to make up the SEC are ranked in the AP top 25 preseason rankings. Can any of these teams turn preseason speculation into regular and post season success? Here is an NBA preview of the SEC conference.

Kentucky Wildcats – Sophomores Doron Lamb and Terence Jones skipped out on last June’s NBA draft, for an opportunity to guide the Wildcats to their first National Title berth under Head Coach John Calipari. Along with Lamb and Jones, the Wildcats also return swingman Darius Miller, and welcome top recruits according to Rivals Anthony Davis and Marquis Teague. The five players have the potential to be one of the scariest, if not the scariest starting five in all of the NCAA this season. What’s more? Terence Jones is already the early favorite for SEC player of the year, as he has the potential to be one of the most complete forwards in the entire league.

Vanderbilt Commodores – The Commodores finished fourth in the SEC last year, but were considered to be one of the toughest schools to play against. In a rather intriguing move, the Commodores return basically the same roster as last season. This should only help things, as the Commodores continue to gel. Vanderbilt, is seen by many as the Washington Capitals or Philadelphia Phillies of the NCAA, in that they can never seem to turn regular season success, into post season glory.
